A comprehensive EPCI project (turnkey contract) at the Mongstad refinery involving a new sour gas pipeline for the facility’s flare system. The project spanned the entire chain—from detailed engineering and material procurement to prefabrication in the workshop and, finally, installation in a highly critical process environment.
Working with systems for sour gas (gas with a high hydrogen sulfide/H2S content) places extreme demands on material selection, welding procedures, and final inspection to prevent stress corrosion. IRV AS assumed overall responsibility for the project, which reduced lead times and ensured a seamless interface between engineering, shop fabrication, and installation work at the refinery site.
